The hospitality sector in Catalonia is about to experience a significant boost with the arrival of two new openings that promise to transform the concept of luxury and exclusivity in the region. Sunset Hospitality Group, with its innovative vision and commitment to quality, presents METT Barcelona and Casa METT Sitges—two projects that combine history, contemporary design, and unique experiences to attract a demanding audience both nationally and internationally. These inaugurations not only reinforce the group’s presence in Spain but also represent a strong commitment to high-end tourism in iconic Mediterranean destinations.
METT Barcelona: A Renewed Historic Icon
The emblematic Gran Hotel La Florida, located at the summit of Tibidabo, will reopen its doors on September 1st under the METT Barcelona brand. Following an investment of 15 million euros, the hotel has been transformed into a five-star luxury establishment with 70 rooms and suites, including exclusive “Design Suites” with private terraces and pools. The renovation has preserved the building’s original structure, maintaining key architectural elements while updating facilities such as air conditioning and accessibility to ensure operational efficiency and guest comfort.
Common areas have been redesigned by Astet Studio, while the hotel’s overall design is the work of the Kokai firm. Additionally, new doors have been added to section hallways, providing greater privacy for family groups. The ground floor houses four restaurants and an exclusive spa, featuring panoramic views from its terrace with a jacuzzi.
With a “lifestyle” philosophy, METT Barcelona aims to attract quality international tourists, especially from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the United States, and the Middle East, as well as local residents seeking a unique city experience.
Casa METT Sitges: Boutique Luxury in the Heart of Sitges
The Capri Hotel, owned by AX Partners, has been chosen to launch this new brand. At the beginning of 2026, Casa METT Sitges will open its doors in the historic center of the town.
This will be the first boutique hotel of the Sunset Hospitality Group brand, resulting from the comprehensive rehabilitation of a protected architectural complex, with an investment of 20 million euros.
With 38 rooms, the hotel aspires to be a catalyst for quality tourism in the destination, offering two gastronomic concepts and a pool club that invite both guests and locals to enjoy its exclusive atmosphere.
Sunset Hospitality Group’s Expansion Strategy
With these openings, Sunset Hospitality Group consolidates its presence in the Spanish market, considered a strategic priority due to its tourism strength and international projection. Jaime Buxó Clos, CEO of Sunset Hotels & Resorts, highlights that Spain represents not only a structural priority but also a very special emotional connection for the group.
These investments add to the opening of METT Marbella-Estepona and future projects in cities such as Madrid and Ibiza, reinforcing SHG’s commitment to luxury and quality hospitality in key Mediterranean destinations.
